About making reciprocal banners or links:

Why do I think it is so important that you have a reciprocal link page on your site?

Because one of the factors that determine how a search engine will rank your site is based on the amount of links that point in toward your site!

Make a page on your site where other web masters can get your link code easily.

Make it as easy as possible for them to link to your site.

It would be good to have images in the dimensions of the standard ad sizes with your site’s advertising on it. Have all of these ads on a page where they can be copied from easily.

I suggest using forms with your link information in them so that people can just copy and paste your link info off of your site. This can be done easily if you are using Dreamweaver for your site creation. Just select “form” from the insert menu and then pick “text area”. In the edit field just paste your linking code inside the text area you created. Save the page and now when you integrate it into your site, visitors will have an easy way to grab your link code!

Check out my own reciprocal link for an example. Doing this just makes it easier for the webmaster visiting you to copy the code you want them to.

You can see that I just use a simple text link. This is the easiest form to use.

Here is a list of the standard ad sizes if you do want to include a picture though:

Leaderboard (728 x 90)

Banner (468 x 60)

Half Banner (234×60)

Skyscraper (120×600)

Wide Skyscraper (160×600)

Button (125×125)

Small Rectangle (180×150)

Vertical Banner (120 x 240)

Medium Rectangle (300 x 250)

Square (250 x 250)

Large Rectangle (336 x 280)

You should also have a page of other people’s links on your page too. Offer to trade links if you think that there would be incentive to.

I hope this article was helpful for you,

Have a good day :)
